How can I tell if my computer can run the DVSMatrix software?
Please check the system requirement for DVSMatrix software. Most Windows based computers are ok to run DVSMatrix software. The only catcha is that DVSMatrix software requires a non-Nvidia chipset motherboard. In order to find out if the motherboard is Nvidia chipset, one can open “Control Pannel” on Windows XP, check “System” => “Hardware” => “Device Manager” => “System Devices”. If “Nvidia” is in the “System Devices” list, the motherboard is not compatible with DVSMatrix. The check procedure is similar on Vista or Windows 7.
Can I view my cameras on Internet?
Yes, and it is quite convenient to view live cameras on Internet with DVSMatrix.
Can I view my cameras on cell phones?
Yes and no. DVSMatrix is Microsoft technology based. The Internet Video Monitoring feature works on all Internet Explorer based on Microsoft platforms. So far it doesn’t work with Apple technologies.
Do I need any special codec to view the recorded video files?
No. The recorded video files are standard Windows media files which work on all Windows operating system. There is no compatibility issue of the video file format.
How many days video can I keep?
It depends on the size of the hard disk and the compression quality settings. On average it takes 4-6GB per camera per day. As of June 2011, 1TB hard disk costs around $60, which keeps around 200 days of video for one camera, or 50 days for each camera in a 4-camera system.
